My love of dogs began in childhood and I was given my first dog for my fifth birthday - she was a beautiful German Shepherd called Zara. I thought I had trained her rather well as she was an exceptional dog, although in hindsight, I think my mother can take credit for that!
I grew up with a variety of dogs including German Shepherds, terriers, spaniels, and collies! As a teenager I became especially interested in competition obedience and canine rehabilitation. As a family we ran Cottage Farm Dog Rescue for twenty-five years where we provided a safe place, rehabilitation, rehoming and lifetime rescue back-up for dogs in need. I continue to help dogs when I can and continue to be involved in dog rescue.
